FLUORESCENCE ANGIOGRAPHY

Fluorescein angiography is an imaging of the fundus of the eye with a special camera using intravenous contrast material. Fluorescein/s or Indocyanine for visualization of blood vessels in the fundus. Helps in the diagnosis of diseases and conditions in the back of the eye related to circulatory, degenerative or inflammatory processes in the fundus.

The device has the ability to take both a plain native fundus image and a series of contrast images.

It uses three filters:

  1. Green – for vessels
  2. Red- choroid
  3. Blue- RNFL

It is an invasive diagnostic and is of course only performed in exceptional cases upon indication given by an ophthalmologist.
