YAG laser capsulotomy is a type of laser eye surgery used to treat a specific condition that occurs in patients after cataract surgery, known as posterior capsule opacification (PCO).
This problem is caused by clouding of the tissue of the natural capsular bag that remains in the eye after cataract surgery and into which the intraocular artificial lens is implanted.
The procedure itself is safe and painless, is performed in outpatient settings, lasts a short time, about 3-5 minutes, and gives excellent results. After the intervention itself, patients often report seeing “flies” flying in the field of vision, which is a normal process and passes in a few days, under the influence of local therapy in the form of drops that are given to patients.
